Seoul, South Korea, December 2017 – The demand for nursing homes has been steadily increasing due to the rapid increase in the elderly population and the increase in dementia patients. This design competition aimed to build a public nursing home facility to provide quality care service for the elderly people suffering from geriatric illnesses. In Seoul professional design services for public buildings are procured through competitions. The competition process developed as a way to harness feasible designs that previously were not able to be constructed within reason.
CWA, Studio Hada, Tim Haas & Associates Inc., and International Consultants Inc., collaborated to come up with a strategic design concept that met the stringent programmatic requirements of the Mapo Silver Care Competition.
