On game day, the Villanova regional rail station handles ten times the number of passengers as any weekday. The 1890 station, clad in Wissahickon schist like many of the University buildings, is being renovated to accommodate an influx of passengers, and to make the ticket window, waiting area and restroom ADA compliant and accessible to all Wildcats. New free-standing canopies modern yet similar to the existing will line the new high-level platforms, with Gothic arches on stone pedestals marking the entry points. Done in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Historic and Museum Commission, the project reflects the spirit of the community while enhancing the comfort of visitors.
